This reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is made of the smallest and most concentrated fruit of our 2006 harvest. Three vineyards with extremely low yields, all under 2 tons per acre, produced tiny, intensely flavored, almost black grapes. From Horse Heaven Hills: the fruit from the young vineyard of great promise, Discovery Vineyard, with an intense purity of flavor and hints of violet and white pepper, is elegant, wild, and young. Add to that the Artz Vineyard from Red Mountain which traditionally produces loose, open clusters of tiny Merlot berries, so small the berries resemble Cab, with chewy tannins and warm cherry flavors-and finally the concentrated, tiny berries of our Block 5 Cab, from Stillwater Creek in the Frenchman Hills. This block has produced low yields, and small clusters-just the way we like it. Together the three (along with 2% Cab Franc) produce a wine which has direction, is focused, saturated with black fruit and violet, with white pepper spice notes. 100% New French Oak.
