The Reckoning is the successor to our 2005 Horse Heaven Hills Red Wine which sold out within a month following release. The 2006 version is promises to be a similar full bodied masculine wine, with pleasing integration of the tannins and wonderful spicy flavors from the Malbec.

This wine is derived from 4 different vineyards in premier and diverse regions of the State (Red Mountain, Horse Heaven Hills, and the beautiful cool slopes of the Frenchman Hills). The wine is 56% Cabernet, 35% Merlot and 9% Malbec. Most of the merlot came from the very same block of Windy Ridge as 2005, and the cherry and spice flavors showed up in force. Red Mountain fruit provides power and chewy tannin which forms a structured backbone The Stillwater Creek Vineyard cabernet contributes blackberry, cassis and a fabulous fruity balance to the largely low acid fruit typical of much of the 2006 Harvest. 100% French Oak.
